Brancott Estate Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is every bit as consistent as the Kim Crawford recommended Wednesday, yet sells for, on average, about $3 to $4 a bottle less. And though the $9.99-a-bottle sale price on Kim Crawford at Schneider’s of Capitol Hill is a steal for a wine that typically sells for about $15 to $18, Brancott can be found for as little as $7.99 or $8.99 in the District, Maryland and Virginia.
The 2011 vintage, which earned 88 points from Wine Spectator and was named Best Sauvignon Blanc at the Critics Challenge International Wine Competition 2012, is on sale for $7.99 at Magruder’s on Connecticut Ave., NW, near the Maryland border. The 2010 vintage that earned 88 points from both Spectator and Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar is also on sale for $7.99 at Calvert Woodley. You could find the 2010 or 2011 at Total Wine stores throughout Virginia or their sister stores in Maryland, Corridor Wine & Spirits in Laurel, and Beltway Fine Winein Towson for $8.99 a bottle.
